Security dogs
Security dog services that stop intruders
FCS Group provides professional security dog services for businesses that need a strong deterrent on large or high-risk sites. Our dog handlers are SIA-licensed security officers who work with trained security dogs to patrol yards, perimeters and empty buildings. We supply static dog and handler teams, foot patrols of your site and short-notice cover, on short-term or long-term contracts.
A handler and dog can cover far more ground than a guard alone, and a dog’s hearing and sense of smell pick up intruders long before they are seen. We plan the canine security around your site, its risks and your budget. You get a named account manager, clear reporting and one number to call.
What’s included
- SIA-licensed, uniformed dog handlers
- Trained general-purpose security dogs
- Static dog and handler teams on site
- Dog patrols of yards, fences and perimeters
- Searches of empty buildings and open land
- Incident reporting and daily activity logs
- Relief handlers to cover sickness and holidays
- A dedicated account manager

The basics
What is canine security?
Canine security, also called a guard dog service, means placing an SIA-licensed handler and a trained security dog on your site. The dog is a strong visual deterrent, and it can find people hiding in buildings, containers or long grass that a guard or CCTV camera would miss.
The dog always works with its handler, in line with the Guard Dogs Act 1975, and warning notices are shown at every entrance. Many clients add a dog patrol at night to their static guards, so large open sites stay covered.

Standards
Trained dogs and licensed security dog handlers
We only deploy dog teams we would trust on our own sites. Before a team starts, we check the handler’s licence, background and right to work, then brief them on the site, its risks and the safest patrol routes.
- Every security dog handler holds a valid SIA front-line licence
- Background, identity and right-to-work checks before deployment
- Site induction and written assignment instructions for every new site
- Dogs trained for patrol and search work, with regular refresher training
- Guard dog warning notices at every entrance, as the law requires

Reporting and response
Reporting you can see, cover you can count on
Our handlers keep daily patrol logs and report every incident, so you always have a clear record for managers and insurers.
