Care home security
SIA-licensed security guards for care homes
FCS Group supplies care home security guards and officers for residential care homes, nursing homes and supported living services across the UK and Ireland. Our officers control the entrance, support night staff and help keep residents, staff and visitors safe.
Care homes are open day and night, with visitors, deliveries and contractors coming and going, and small night teams looking after many residents. A trained officer on the door or on the grounds gives your staff one less thing to manage. We plan cover around your building, your residents and your rota. You get a named account manager and one number to call, day or night.
What’s included
- Reception and visitor control
- Night security officers
- Out-of-hours building checks
- Car park and grounds checks
- Contractor and delivery access

The basics
What is a care home security guard?
A care home security guard is an SIA-licensed officer who protects a care home, its residents, staff and visitors. They are not care workers and they do not give personal care. Their job is the building and the people around it: who comes in and out, what is happening in the car park and grounds overnight, and who can step in when a visitor becomes aggressive or a door has been left open.
Some homes use a reception officer in the day and a night officer after visitors leave. Others add a guard only for nights, weekends or a specific problem such as anti-social behaviour outside the home.

Licensed security officers for your home
Anyone doing security guard work for a care home under a contract needs an SIA licence. All our security guards are fully SIA licensed and trained.
You do not have to take our word for it. Every licence can be looked up on the free SIA register of licence holders using the officer’s licence number, and we are happy for you to check before a first shift.

Reporting and response
Reports you can see
Our officers keep a written log of each shift, including checks, visitors and anything unusual, so your manager knows who was on site and what happened.
